Actually, a surprisingly large amount of decorating things that you can do in your apartment without breaking the rental rules. So I’m gonna be showing you what I’ve done in my favorite apartment, decorating, ideas that you can do to your own apartment. I’m Sophia Lee. I’m. A recent college graduate who is obsessed with turning her first apartment into a home.
I’m, taking you along with me and showing you my best decorating ideas, organization, tips and cleaning hacks, so that you can make your apartment look pictures perfect. While sticking to a budget, I’m here to help you turn your apartment into a place. You will love to number one to stick to a budget. You need to have a budget in place. So one of the first things that I did when I was starting to plan moving into my first apartment was put together a huge excel sheet going over every single thing that I needed to buy for my apartment and set a budget that I felt comfortable spending. So I highly recommend you do that for yourself, because you can’t have a budget in place. If you don’t know exactly what everything’s gonna cost and what you are comfortable is funding, and I was actually able to figure out a way that you can download the exact excel sheet that I used my boyfriend.
Just graduated with an accounting degree, so he’s like super intense about Excel sheets and he set it up. For me, it’s really awesome, and the link is in my description in the description like I said it’s free so that just really helped me one apartment decorating on a budget, and that is crucial to making sure that you Have an apartment that you love it and that’s cute, but that you can also afford tip number two is how to decorate apartment walls without spending a lot of money on it.So I have a ton of huge walls in my apartment and obviously I needed big something big happening on the walls, so that the proportion wasn’t off. But I was trying to be really money conscious about it and did not want to spend a lot of money on it.So what I did was I DIY this campus. It cost me thirty five dollars and the one that I copied or try to recreate was over a $ 900. So that saved me a lot of money, and then I got these frames to the side of them.
From Michael’s, they were on sale for $ 6 and I used command ships to hang it up because it was apartment. I didn’t want to put a lot of holes in the wall and then I bought it. The lights are from Ikea and they were like $ 20 or $ 25 or $ 23 somewhere, like that, and I put some gold about them, buff on it to make it gold and look more expensive because they were silver before so.That is how I personally decorated my huge wall that I have here. I have a whole video of me decorating my living room that you can click below, and I show you like exact instructions on how I do this. But there are a lot of other ways. You can also decorate apartment walls while sticking to a budget, and one of my favorite ways is by using wall, decals or removable wallpaper, and this can get expensive. So you need to do some digging to find inexpensive versions, but they there is a lot of them and some of my favorite places to get those are Target and Amazon. They have some really good ones. Another way that I love to decorate apartment walls, especially if you are in a small apartment, is by using mirrors, and I have mirrors all throughout my apartment.
They just instantly make the space feel bigger, while also adding some to court to the wall. Here is a little nook that I have in my living room that just needed something, and I found the circle mirror from Target it’s huge.It is 84 inches. I believe, and it’s super cute, so that’s, a place that I have it. I have a full-length mirror in my bedroom, which is obviously good for checking out outfits, but it also makes about you feel bigger and that one is from home goods.I don’t know. Basically, I just love using mirrors and decorating because it makes the space feel so much larger and then the last way that I would recommend decorating walls which I like it’s, a rental. So some rentals allow this and some don ‘ T I personally, I’m – not allowed to do this, so I’m, not doing this, but you can paint a wall and I would recommend using neutral colors because usually they have a deal like if they can paint over it and White, then you don’t have to pay the fine for painting a wall but check with your apartment.Sometimes that’s, a really good way to add a focal color to to one of the walls and paints really cheap. So that’s, a another easy way to do that. So those are my favorite ways on how to decorate apartment walls, while sticking to a budget.
Second apartment decorating, while sticking to a budget tip is cheap. Rugs will change the entire feeling of a space. I am a huge fan of adding rugs to all of my rooms. I have a rug in every single room and I got all of mine from rugs USA because they are by far the cheapest.Obviously, because they’re cheap, make sure to read the reviews, because some of the quality can be really bad, but rugs. Just instantly make a apartment or home, why not look cuter and better, but also it makes it so much more cozy and it’s, a great way to divide up spaces if your apartment is very open or if you’re in A studio apartment, you can add a rug under your bed and kind of separate your bed area from the living-room area.Folks, just do so much for a space, and you really can find them for a very inexpensive third apartment decorating on a budget tip. Hang curtains hanging, curtains can be really expensive, but they can change the entire feeling of your apartment. So this is exactly what I did to get cheap curtains that look expensive when buying curtains. You want them to be as close to the ceiling and as possible and then just sweeping the floor, and if you’re watching this video, you are not going to want to pay to do that because to have it exact.
You have to get them custom, which is really really expensive. So what I did is to get the custom look without actually spending the custom price was. I went to Target Walmart Amazon. I stopped those websites to find curtains that were long enough, that I could hang them three inches down from the ceiling and then for them to hit the floor. And then this is really extra of me, but I actually had my mom sew, the bottom of it. So that it did just sweep the floor and then to get even more extra, I’m really into the pleated. Look right now, so I like curtains, that look pleated and very almost like formal versus. If they are on hooks, I would I should not. I can’t show you a picture cuz I don’t want to slam anyone’s curtains, but you can see in these videos that are on top of this. That this is kind of a look that I want, so I actually took a straightener and I went and straighten it down so that it was very crisp and precise. So that’s, how I got custom, looking curtains without spending a lot of money on them. I ended up getting these exact curtains from Target. I’ll, have them linked below and then just to reiterate, hang them three inches down from the ceiling.
Do not hang them right on top of your window, pane that will instantly make your room look smaller. If you hang them three inches down from the ceiling or two inches down from the ceiling, your room will look a lot more expensive and larger and then have them. You want to be extra like me, so then she took my mom just hand, sew them. So the top so that they sweep the floor so that’s. What I did the fourth apartment decorating on a budget tip is where to find inexpensive furniture, and I actually have an entire video talking about where I was able to find all my different furniture pieces.Like my couch, my buds, my nightstands, my kitchen barstools, I have a whole video going over all that, so I’ll, keep it short and simple and give you my biggest tips for this. The first tip for the bedroom is to just get a headboard.I personally wanted a base to my bed, so both of my beds have the base with them. So I don’t have to have a bed skirt, but by just getting a headboard. It’s, gonna be so much more inexpensive and then a way to make sure that, even though it’s inexpensive that it looks more expensive, is have at your headboard, be tall and then have the pillows be very specific.
So a tip that I have for the pillows or what I did on my bed was. I got three really large pillows that were 26 by 26 inches and pillows. That are that big can be really expensive. So what I did is I went to home guys.I marched my butt to the back of the store where the clearance section is, and I found three 26 by 26 inch pillows that were on sale. They can be as ugly as possible. I didn’t care. What they look like as long as had a removable cover to it, and I could chop it because I am a big chopper um and I took those pillows and I went on Amazon and Etsy and woven Nook is one of my favorite pillow cover companies, and I would just buy covers for them that way, like pillows can be really expensive. So that way I was able to get the choppa Bowl pillow. Look with a really inexpensive cover, like you can find. Pillow covers on Amazon for literally five dollars, so that’s where I got my pillows from and that can just make your bedroom look so much more put together for all of those other tips that I have check out that video it’ll be really helpful and I was super uptight about finding an expensive furniture. So I kind of shows you where I got all of that from the last apartment. Decorating tips on a budget that I have for. You is kitchen decor and I feel like decorating. A kitchen is a piece of its own. That honestly, I have barely touched my kitchen with decorating, but I’ll.
Tell you the things that I have done so far. So behind my stove, I wanted to utilize that space and decorate it. So I got various cutting boards and I layered them. This is really really cute and I love my this turned out.Obviously you have to have the right stove to be able to do this, but I was able to find the cheapest cutting boards at HomeGoods. My other, like my biggest cutting board, is really expensive, so that is not budget-friendly um and that one was from wafer, but by far the cheapest cutting boards.I was able to find datacom from home goods, and I bet that at home has some really good inexpensive options as well. Another thing I did was, I got a plant plant holder planter plant-based. I don’t know what are they called? I don’t know, but I got this plant holder from Target for like eleven dollars and I put my serving spoons in them. Not only is this really nice, when you’re cooking, you can just wrap them out of there, but it also looks really cute and then lastly, I always have a trendy or not trendy. You made a seasonal or I don’t, know cute.
